Along the Slough

I wrote about our day at Moss Landing,
but there was a bit more to add to the day.
We like to drive home along Elkhorn Slough.
Lots of birds
and there's just something about the marshes
that I love.

There's a long path that follows the shore
(and as always,
you can click on any image for a larger version).

the path is lined with posts
that show the signs of years of tides

But mostly I'm drawn to the mud flats

At the end of the path is an elevated boardwalk

And of course there are birds,

Egrets,

and shorebirds.

There's also a railroad track

As a final shot,
I loved the look of the locks they use
to close the trail at night.

It was a truly perfect day,
reminding me once again
that

Egrets, I've had a few. But, then again, too few to mention.

Diane would love your lock picture. She, too, loves rusty things. Love your bird shots.

Great scenery Kate. I don't blame you for liking that area.
By the way, Happy Anniversary.
