It's Kind of Sad

.
As I mentioned a few days ago, we took Henry and Lulu to their new home. It was both happy and sad. We're so pleased we found a great home for them, where they have a lot of room and other goats to play with. And most of all, wonderful people who are delighted with them.

On the other hand, we've had them since they were so tiny, and really, they're like our dogs in a way; and you know how attached we get to our animals. In case you don't know about goats, they're quite intelligent, very social pack animals. Since we got them at such an early age, they've kind of imprinted on us. When we come home, they come running, just like your favorite pet.

And these guys were our favorite pets. But with us wanting to go out again, it was time to find them a good home, and we've done that.

So here's a few pictures of them, memory shots for us. I didn't spend much time with these, so take them for what they are.

Henry on the outside,
Lulu looking through the window.

Another shot of them in their house.

Henry in profile.

They love nothing better
than having their horns scratched.

Unless it's eating.
Just about anything. . .

I love their little goat lips.

Terry found it easier
to just pick Lulu up for their journey.
You have to be careful of their horns.

Here they go.

They haven't left our property
in close to ten years.
We were worried they'd freak out,
but they seemed more interested than anything.

At their new home,
they have other goats to play with.

Although I do believe
they were under the impression
that they were the only goats in the world.

After a bit of time,
and a few head butts,
it looks like they will be just fine.

I may not be so fine,
but I know it's the right thing to do.
I feel like a chapter of my life is over,
but I'm going to look forward,
not back.

Glad you found them a good home. I can understand how hard it must have been to give them up since I can't imagine life without my dog.

When a chapter is over, that simply means there is another chapter ahead, probably just as wonderful, just as exciting, just as fun a the one that just closed. Didn't know goats liked their horns scratched!

That's a painful thing to do and knowing it's the right thing to do does not make it better. I had to place a beloved pet with another family some months back and am just getting over the trauma. It was like leaving a child. My heart just broke into pieces.

It is sad, but it's wonderful too, imagining their new life. You did the right thing--and you can always come visit.

You've probably seen the movie "Men Who Stare At Goats"....now Terry could star in a new one...."Men Who Carry Goats". He does pretty good, doesn't he!!

Sad for you having to take your pets to a new home, but happy for you finding just a little bit more freedom. The future beckons, and you are preparing for a new journey. Life is Good!!
