Answers and More

.
I often get questions in the comment section of the blog and I'm never sure where to answer them. I myself comment on other blogs but rarely revisit the comment, so I'm in the dark here. Is the comment section of a blog supposed to be an ongoing dialogue? Please, let me know what you think.

For today's entry, I'm going to answer a few comments from past blogs.

Bob commented on the San Francisco blog asking where we park the rig when we're in the city. Actually, we've driven the rig through San Francisco a few times, but never stayed anywhere close enough for a hop into the city. Currently, we're in the Bay Area, so our recent visit was just a day trip. If we decide to spend more time near the City, we'll certainly look into Bob's recommendation of Pacifica.

Regarding Angie's comment "Don't you think that many movies have gone the direction of special effects/CGI with little character development or plot? It also seems that movie makers have run out of creative ideas so they keep making one sequel after another." Unfortunately I completely agree with this.

As a movie lover, I find it interesting that in the last couple of years, it seems that television is doing as much better job of weaving great stories. Willing to take the time to develop both story and character, shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Battlestar Galactica all offer gripping drama. They portray actions with consequences and inspire conversations having to do with everything from religion to the question of how far are we willing to go before we completely abandon our personal morals. Great stuff.

Finally, Russ asks if we've ever seen Firefly. People who have been reading the blog for the last five years know that I'm a huge Joss Whedon fan. I've written about him and his work many times. In fact, we had originally planned on naming the motorhome Serenity after the ship in Firefly. If you've never seen Firefly, rent it right now. It's a great ride, and one that was cancelled way too soon.

Now on to another subject.

We've been doing well with our "entry" exercise program. We're walking every day. While not incredibly difficult, it's taken most of a week to get to the point where we can do the whole thing without developing some pain. I must say, I believe that my muscles have almost completely disappeared in the last year or so. Now, once again, I can attest to the fact that I do indeed have muscles, because I can feel them! We figure in another week or so, we should be ready to graduate to the two mile walk.

And I'd like to thank those of you who have written me encouraging notes, they really do help.

And that's it for today!

I think this idea of a "answer" blog post is a great one. I too have wondered about this, although I don't get as many questions as you do! It's nice to have a chance to catch up, Kate. As you probably know, we have been on the road and getting only sporadic internet now and then, but I love the boondocking and dry camping, so it's worth it.

Thanks for answering my question, Kate. Glad you're getting the "feeling" back in your muscles. It does take some time.

(1) Comments: we never go back to read later comments in another blog. I know there are folks who have a dialogue there, and we probably miss some answers to our own comments, but there's not enough time now to go everywhere once, much less twice!

(2) San Francisco: We would never try to take our MH into SF! Eeek! We even don't like to drive the car there! However, there is a neat KOA in Petaluma, just a little way north over the Golden Gate Bridge. The Pacifica park is way too expensive for our budget.

If I want to answer a comment I generally do it in the comment section. When I comment on a blog I always click whatever option there is to be notified of further comments. So, yes, I'd say that the comment section is a conversation. You miss a lot if you don't read all the comments as they come in.

Good for you guys on the exercise.

I've thought about this same thing. Like you and probably most readers if I comment on a blog, I never go back to read it either. After all, I've already read the blog. There's no need to read it again. I do, however, read the comments and notice that you will see the blogger leaving comments. I never could understand that. It just doesn't make sense to me ... but what do I know?

I do try to comment via email to everyone who leaves a comment on my blog. In a way it's thanking them for their comment. The problem is I don't have everyone's email and many come through without a way to locate them.

I guess we all do what works best for us.
