Got Recipes?

.
My friend Jonna sent me a request to join a recipe tree. I've participated in several of these over the years and have received a couple of great recipes, BUT . . .

There's always a but.

The way it works is you only have to send one recipe, but then you have to forward the request on to twenty people, hopefully people who will respond.

Well, I managed to scrounge up twenty people, but I've already gotten a bunch of emails from friends who either don't have the time or don't feel like they can come up with twenty people to send it to.

So since I love trying someone else's tried and true recipes, I thought I'd throw it out here . . .

Anyone want to play?

If you're interested, please email me, or leave a comment and I'll send you the full instructions.

Or you could just post your very favorite recipe in the comment section and then I'll have a whole bunch of new recipes to try!

Yup, Kate, I've found that trying too many new recipes does lead to a big Butt (on me). Donna might send you some.

This is one of our favorites and so easy. I'm not a big gingerbread fan but this cake is fabulous.

1 box gingerbread mix
1 cup applesauce
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 cup raisins

Mix gingerbread, applesauce, egg and water with a spoon. Stir in raisins. Pour in 9 x 13 pan (or a 9 x 9 if you want it thicker). Bake at 350 for 23-28 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. If you like, spread on some cream cheese frosting.

That's it.

I thought it was funny we both posted about recipes. I just did that letter with my DIL about a month ago and NO ONE followed through so they probably wouldn't again. But I can post my pot roast recipe here if you want???

So Sorry to not respond eariler but I just can't do the recipe thing either. Its a great idea but 20 people and the time situation just won't work.
Hope you get a good response.

I was sent the same email in October and only received 2 recipes. Nobody I know wants to play.
However,
1/2 lbs scallops
2 tbs soy sauce
1 tbs lemon juice
1/4 tsp ground ginger

mix and marinate scallops in the above while preparing the rest.
2 ribs celery slice diagonally
2 green onions sliced
1 clove garlic minced
Saute vegetables till crisp and push to one side then add scallops. Saute scallops and mix together. Serve with rice.

I just made this last night and it is yummy.

I will try the gingerbread cake in my new sun oven.
I need to work at eliminating the smell on the inside first. It is brand new.

Easy Crockpot Pot Roast

Brown a 2-3 lb. pot roast on all sides in a heavy pan over medium high heat and then put it in the crockpot. I like to use the crockpot liners. Sure makes it easy.

Lightly brown a coarsely chopped onion and a bit of garlic in the same pan then add that to the crockpot.

Deglaze the pan with a little water and about 1 cup of red wine. I don't know anything about wine other than it tenderizes meat and makes a rich gravy.

Pour the liquid over the roast. Add a couple of cut up carrots and a few pieces of celery and let 'er simmer for 6-8 hours or until tender (depends on your crockpot). Season with salt and pepper to taste.

I like to serve with mashed potatoes and make gravy from the liquid left in the pot.

You might need to add a little beef stock. This makes the tenderest pot roast I have ever had.
