Feeling Hopeful . . .

.
As you can probably tell, I've been feeling a bit down lately. Not so much down as completely overwhelmed. But today that has changed, and I can't begin to tell you how good I feel.

Today, we took our first load to a local auction house, (A&A Auctions). They hold auctions every two weeks, so it looks like we've finally found a venue to relieve ourselves of all our "stuff". What a great operation! It was really nice to see that they take all kinds of merchandise (not just vintage and antiques). This means that as well as all the smalls, we'll also be able to sell furniture, appliances and tools. What a relief!

Today we took close to a dozen boxes. When we arrived, they set up three large tables and we unpacked everything, they looked it over and gave us an itemized list (some thing were marked a s groups). Then. we were able to walk away. Is that cool or what?

I thought I'd share some pictures
of todays haul.
Our first group of smalls.

These next three pictures
are a huge table
full of crystal and glassware.

It's a relief
to turn these over
to someone to sell
as we have no idea of their value.

Now it's all
in someone elses hands!

We're taking more tomorrow
and hopefully
this will be the start
of a beautiful friendship!

Great beginning... I can't imagine the semisweet feeling of ridding yourself of things collected over countless years. I say semisweet, because you have the goal of new adventures as the reason for doing it! Often, when things are taken to an auction like that it's either at the end of their life, or they are being forced to sell everything and go into a nursing facility. So you are very blessed to be selling yours for the reasons that you are!!!

Carry forth...

Wow Kate, I'm impressed. You inspire me to get going with my cleaning and sorting and divesting myself of "things". It's hard though. I like that you are taking pictures. Russ said we should do that, keep our memories in photos of the things that have meaning for us and then get rid of the actual item. Keep us the good work.

There you go! My grandpa used to say, "Little strokes cut great oaks."

A little at a time, and then you will be freeeeeeeee!
