.
I see all kinds of blogs holding contests and I've never done that, mainly because I don't have a lot of money and I never know what to give away.
But now, a kind gentleman on a board I visit has made me a gift if a Kandle for the Kindle. Since the Kindle isn't backlit, some kind of a light is needed in darker areas. I went on the board and asked for recommendations and this fellow emailed me that he had one he didn't need (he had gotten them in a promo), and would I like one for the cost of shipping?
Well, of course I jumped on it. He wrote and asked if I needed more, and I asked for a total of three (one for me, two for my friends here in the area) and he said fine.
The package came today and he sent me four! He said that four fit in the box better, so I told him thank you so much, I will give one away on my blog!
Here's two pictures, not great but you can at least get the idea.
This first one shows the Kindle
with the Kandle attached,
but an overhead light on.
You can see how nicely
it clips on the Kindle.

This shot was taken
pretty much in the dark.
I did this so you could see
that the light does indeed
cover the whole "page".
It doesn't really have the glare
you see at the top
(that’s a photo thing)
and it is a bit darker at the bottom,
but it's fine for reading.
And the light isn't blue.

This is a pretty spiffy little light and you can use it for other things also, just by clipping it on a shirt or any other object. It comes with two batteries installed an extra two batteries, a small screwdriver to change the batteries and a carrying pouch.
So here's the deal. Terry and I have picked a number between one and one hundred. All you have to do is leave a comment telling me your favorite online site for getting new information about free books for the various e-readers, then tell me your favorite number between 1-100.
Whoever comes closest to the number we've picked will win the Kandle, which I'll ship to you. In case of two people picking the same number, the first entry wins.
I know this is a funky way to do things, but hey, I don't really know what I'm doing, I'm just trying to give one of my readers a small gift.
The contest will run till 5:00PM Saturday Pacific time, and the winner will be announced Saturday night.

What the what!!!! I can't believe this! I just told Jonathan I want one of those Kindle Candle thingamajiggys!
Ok, so the number I'm going to guess is 7. That's my lucky number, my wedding date, the number of clean socks I rotate through, and how many pimples I have on my face right now :)
I barely just got a Kindle so I'm not sure what sites have the best free books, but after doing a search, how about this one:

Hey Kate:
I hope you don't mind that I've been swiping your Ghost pics on FB. I've made one of them (of Pedernal) my current profile pic.

Hi Kate..
My guess is 24. I just got my kindle so I didn't even know that there were free sites to get books!!
The only site I know so far to get books and maybe some of them are free is the amazon site.
I don't have an e-mail address so I use my husbands at petefrey@telus.net.
I hope I win cause it would be neat to read at night in bed.
Thanks
Linda
I just got my Kindle and I haven't ventured off of Amazon. I would like to guess the number if you would allow such. How about "89"
